DECLARED CRITICAL SITUATIONS OF SUPERFICIAL WATER SCARCITY IN “JARDIM, RIO SERRA AZUL” AND “SANTO HIPÓLITO, RIO DAS VELHAS” STATIONS

Have been published and are already in force, the Ordinances IGAM 33 and 34, which declares the critical situations of superficial water scarcity in “Jardim, Rio Serra Azul” and “Santo Hipólito, Rio das Velhas” stations.

 

These statements are justified by the necessity to act to prevent or minimize the effects of droughts, prevent or alleviate serious environmental degradation, attend the priority uses and minimize impacts on the multiple uses.

 

On account of the established of Use Restriction in river portions, are imposed on all surface water abstraction the following restrictions of use:

 

• Reduction of 20% of the daily volume granted to water abstraction for the purpose of human consumption, animal consumption or public supply;

• Reduction of 25% of the daily volume given for the purpose of irrigation;

• Reduction of 30% of the daily volume granted to water abstraction for the purpose of industrial and agro-industrial consumption; and

• 50% reduction in the volume given for other purposes.

 

The usage restrictions for water abstraction shall take effect thirty (30) days from the date of publication of each Ordinance, and doesn’t comply with restrictions will entail to the total suspension of the use of water rights until the end of validity term of the critical situation of water scarcity.
