Mining Code Special Commission will meet again


The Special Commission to analyze the new Mining Code (PL 37/11 and others) will meet on Thursday (18) to set the work plan and public hearings in the House and in the main mining cities.

The project of the new Mining Code was sent by the government to Congress in June 2013. Last year, it was up to Mr Leonardo Quintão (PMDB-MG) to substitute the new projects Code. However, there was no agreement to approve the text on the special committee. The new rapporteur of the Mining Code, Laudívio Carvalho (PMDB-MG), said he will not take advantage of the text drawn up by his predecessor and added that propose ways of compensating for municipalities. In addition, Laudívio said he will seek to listen to all stakeholders before setting proposal for the amount of royalties paid by mining companies to the government.
