In April 2025, the STJ adopted a new interpretation on the definition of Permanent Preservation Areas (APP) in artificial reservoirs. In REsp 2.141.730/SP, the Court accepted the understanding that occupations carried out after July 22, 2008 must observe the ranges of the general regime of the Forest Code.
