Yesterday marked the first edition of the Sion Mining Meet. With the theme of Dam Safety, we brought together in Belo Horizonte a select group of professionals who work directly in the most sensitive areas of the Brazilian mining sector: operators, regulators, and legal experts with complementary perspectives on one of the most critical issues in national mining.
The evening was hosted by partners Alexandre Sion and Luiza Guerra, and featured prominent voices: Carolina Duque, Head of Legal Affairs at Vallourec; Cristiano Parreiras, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Mineração Morro do Ipê; Juliana Cota, Director of Inactive Mines and PAEBM at Vale; and Roberto Gomes, Director of Dam Management and Recovery of Mining and Industrial Areas at FEAM. Perspectives ranged from corporate risk management to the regulatory role of the State.
The meeting confirmed something we deeply believe: the best debates on dam safety happen when the company, the regulator, and the technical and legal teams sit at the same table.
And this is just the first edition. We’re still building!
